Geneviève Parent

Geneviève Parent is a full professor at the Faculty of Law at Université Laval, where she holds the Legal Research Chair in Food Diversity and Security (Chaire DDSA). She is an associate member of the Académie d’ Agriculture de France and a part-time member of the Canada Agricultural Review Tribunal. She is part of the Scientific Council of the World Farmers’ Organization. She holds a PhD in international law, and her main areas of interest are food safety and national and international agri-food laws. The research she has been actively carrying out for over 20 years focuses on national and international legal instruments contributing to food security, as well as on the impact of law in the transition of food systems towards greater sustainability and equity. Her work particularly focuses on greater coherence between international economic law and other international law for sustainable global food security. Ms. Parent has published numerous scientific articles and is a frequent speaker at national and international food security meetings.
