Full Professor with the University of Pisa (Italy)
Alessandra Di Lauro is Associate Professor at the University of Pisa (Italy), where she teaches rural law, food law, and biotechnology law. She is also a practicing lawyer. She has authored three monographs and over 70 articles on intellectual property, the intersection of law with other sciences (including Medicine, Ethics, Chemistry, Ecology, Psychology, Linguistics and Semiotics, Neuroscience, and Nanoscience), unfair practices, and consumer protection in food. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors of the European Committee for Rural Law (CEDR) and the Associazione Cultori Diritto Agrario, and is a member of the Scientific Council of the World Union of University Agrarians (UMAU). She evaluates for the Italian Ministry of Universities, Education, and Scientific Research. She is on the editorial board of the Rivista di diritto agrario. She is also a member of the LegL Research Chair IN Food Diversity and Security at Laval University in Quebec (Canada), the Associazione Italiana Diritto Agrario, the Associazione Italiana Diritto Alimentare, the Osservatorio sulle regole dell’agricoltura e dell’alimentazione, and the Centro interdipartimentale di ricerca ‘Nutraceutica e alimentazione per la salute (NutraFood). She has served multiple times as national reporter for the European Committee for Rural Law (1994, 2001, 2009, 2013) and as general rapporteur for Commission III at the XXVIII CEDR Congress in Potsdam in 2015.
